Since pioneering Japan’s aviation history in 1951,
JAL has continued to take on challenges and grow
to consistently upholding the highest standards of safety and security in the skies.
Now, aiming even higher.
To expand into the space business,
JAL’s Business Development Department established the Space Group in April 2024.
We are actively advancing the space business initiative known as the RE:WRIGHT PROJECT.
Having pioneered air travel and been responsible
for transporting people and goods through the skies,
JAL now aims to build a new economic, living, and social ecosystem
centered on transportation in space.
By also engaging in entertainment, we strive to create a world
where everyone can feel connected to space and become part of a rich space society.
To achieve this goal,
we will accelerate JAL Group’s space business initiatives together with our group companies,
JALUX Inc.(hereafter “JALUX”) and
JAL Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereafter “JALEC”),
forming a three-company collaboration.
By leveraging JAL’s extensive expertise in aircraft operations, we aim to collaborate with a diverse range of partners to develop space transportation for both people and goods. This initiative will allow us to expand flight operation support services into space, where regular transportation of humans and cargo in space becomes a reality.
Learn MoreAlongside the expansion of our space transportation business, JAL is developing initiatives that provide observation data obtained across various altitudes from the sky to outer space, using the JAL Group’s diverse assets. By leveraging this data, we aim to address social challenges and contribute to the creation of new value.
In addition, through efforts to enhance entertainment and comfort in space environments, JAL is expanding the accessibility of space and connecting life in space with life on Earth. These initiatives include the JAL STAR PASSPORT project and the THINK SPACE LIFE project.
